Pip Trip! "Hike a Volcano" at Obsidian Ridge Vineyards

  • Obsidian Ridge Vineyards Lake County, CA United States (map)

Nestled within the Mayacamas Mountains at 2900 ft in the sky, sits Obsidian Ridge - one of the highest elevated and most unique vineyards in all of California. Blanketed by heavenly rays of sunshine and home to vines that emerge and thrive through volcanic soil, we’re lucky to call the Red Hills of Lake County our home. Just across the way is Mt. Konocti, a 350,00 year old dormant volcano that we have to thank for the deposit of obsidian glass that showers our vineyard. What better reason to celebrate this magical geological feature than to explore all that it has to offer?! Thus, we’re happy to announce one of our newest, most extraordinary adventures - “Hike A Volcano”.

We hope you’ll join us on this excursion, as we spend the day strolling through the vines and walking the vineyard, followed by an adventurous hike up a the slope of an obsidian flow that includes an in-depth lesson on the local geology from a knowledgeable, local Sonoma State University Geologist and Professor. We’ll end the day with wine tasting and a delicious catered lunch at the top of the mountain overlooking and taking in the picturesque views of the Red Hills - a much deserved, well-earned reward indeed. So bring your hiking shoes, an appetite, and a thirst for adventure as we venture through the largest flow of obsidian that you may ever witness, while learning about the amazing geology that Obsidian Ridge resides upon. And, by all means, at the end of the tour, please feel free to question our sanity.

$115 per person
